Make a difference -donate your unwanted foreign coins to charity
According to recent reports people in Britain have £510 million lying around in unwanted foreign coins.
диваниOn average we have about £17 in unused foreign coins lying around our houses that we never do anything with. So what can we do with them? One idea is to give them to charities. Oxfam and Barnardos have recently starting taking in your unwanted coins.
The unwanted coins are being taken in so that charities can get some much needed funds to help their causes. The credit crunch has ensured people keep their wallets locked alittle tighter when thinking of chairties. Its one thing to donate when you have money to spare, and while to do so when were at a point where every penny counts is very decent of people, but how can we ask that they give what they themselves need? Those people themselves may end up needing charities themselves- while that point is hopefully slightly exaggerated, I think you understand what im driving at.
So donate your old foreign coins. Its not worth exchanging the smaller coins unless you have alot of them at home. They will just spend their time at the bottom of draws and desks unless your a collector of coins or travel abroad frequently.
The post office is taking them in for charity, so pop down there if you have a spare five or ten minutes. Start looking out for collection bags on your flight back home, as they’ve now started putting them on planes.
If you really want to help the charities out get in contact with them about it. Most of the charities have collection packs which allow you to collect the money in your local area, and will collect them money if you reach a certain weight.

With these sure-fire fundrasing ideas you’re sure to get that badly needed money coming through the door in a jiffy.
Garage Sale
This one is often overlooked but is a solid frundraising idea.
In this scenario, the charity collects giveaway itmes and auctions them for making money for their cause. This idea is basically cost effective as the merchandises are mainly solicited from members and other participating individuals giving for free. Literally there isn’t a limit for what you can sell, outdoor equipment, girls clothing, books you name it.
The Bake Sale
Another nonprofit fundraising idea is creating an event which can generate funds is the bake-off or bake sale. Everyone loves sweet stuff right? Don’t forget that because the event attendees themselves donate those goodies, profitabiltiy is sky-high and your risk is zero. That’s an excellent combination!
Benefit Dinner
With this type of event the charity charges an entrance fee to generate the profits.
Usually there is a noteworthy speaker or some type of performance that helps draw money and people through the door.
In addition, and often overlooked is the possibility of selling products at the event. Remember, you have all those eyes in front of you so you might as well make the most of it by trying an up-sell. Event participants should be voluntary. This helps keep down your costs and usually ensures greater success with your fundraising ideas.
Tupperware
Don’t forget about the always popular Tupperware sales event. Everyone has leftovers in their fridge don’t they? This one works well but you do limit the participants to mostly women.
Pancake Breakfast
Flap Jacks, everyone loves them and they are a solid choice if you have kitchen facilities
for your use.
Bikini Clad Girls and a Carwash
You’d be surprised at how much money 4 bikini clad girls can brink in at $4 a pop. The great thing is all you need is girl-power, soap and water.
A Rock-Solid Classic: The Pizza Drive
Selling pizzas in your local neighborhood flat-out works. Everyone loves a slice of hot pizza? The pizza is delivered frozen so you don’t run into any spoilage issues and because the barrier to the sale ie. the price should be kept low and profits will be high.
Selling Services - A Hugely Overlooked Fundraising Idea
The bikini clad carwash mentioned earlier in this article is an example of selling a service instead of a product. This has to got to be the most overlooked fundraising idea ever. It’s often overlooked because, everyone focuses so heavily on product sales that this gem never even enters their minds.) If you have a fairly large and active community that you draw from to fuel your fundraising drive then a classic service upsell is a good idea. What you do is have fundraiser participants sell their services to people in the community.? ?They can rake clean up lawns and trim lawns,? ?clean gutters,? clean up? garages,? clean-up and detail wash? cars,? ?or do any other household job that someone might need done.? This is great esecially if there are a lot of senior citizens in your community who cannot do these things on their own. This is really just the tip of the ice-berg for what you can do service selling? wise. Seriously folks, these are just a few ideas.
Fundraising - Is Just Like an Iceberg
Just like an iceberg in which the majority of it’s mass remains hidden from view, so is the “hidden” talents in the community that sorrounds your fundraising efforts. If you haven’t taken inventory of what talents your members have that can be marketed you’re selling your fundraising effort short and are leaving a lot of money on the table.
Everyone in your community has some type of talent. In reality you are not sorrouned by members or fundraising participants. You’re sorrouned by small engine mechanics, landscapers, accountants, teachers, carpenters, sheetrock hangers, biologists and beauticians.

Strategy To Market Your Fundraising Program
There are many components involved to successfully administer a fundraising program. First of all, the money that is going to be raised needs to be used for a cause that people can get behind. Secondly, the fundraising effort needs to utilize as many volunteers as possible to successfully raise the fundraising goal. In addition, those volunteers that are recruited need to be effectively trained. Thirdly, a fundraising plan needs to be developed. This could entail a selection of a product that will be sold, conducting a special event, or simply asking people for money.
With all of these components in place there is one missing emphasis. That emphasis is a strategy on how to market your fundraising program.
In fact, it can be argued that before beginning your fundraising program, it is important to have a foundational plan in place to market your fundraising program. Therefore, before beginning your fundraising effort it is important to know what is marketing, gathering a marketing team together and discussing strategies.
What Is Marketing?
Marketing is a communication process that is centered on a product, event or service in which the intent is to increase the awareness of the audience towards that product in hopes that they will eventually purchase that item. Therefore, it can be clearly seen that it is paramount to market your fundraising program.
Within the marketing tool box there are many tools that can be utilized to market your fundraising program. Some of those tools can be newsletters, use of television, radio, word of mouth, mailings, e-mail, etc. In addition, a plan to market your fundraising program should be concentrated in that all of these tools are used during a specific timeframe. This timeframe should be the leading edge into the fundraising effort as well as during the campaign.
Gathering A Team
As part of a plan to market your fundraising program it is important to recruit as much help as possible. The help that is recruited should be individuals who have knowledge about marketing or who may be part of the professional marketing world.
Examples of these types of individuals could include marketing directors from businesses and those affiliated with the public media. This public media could include newspapers, radio stations and television stations. Often, these individuals wish to give back as well as portray the company that they represent as community minded. Therefore, more often than not, these individuals wish to participate in such fundraising events.

Strategies
There are many strategies that can be utilized when beginning to market your fundraising program. First of all, it is important to note that many public media outlets will advertise your fundraising event at no cost. These are called public service announcements.
Also, many television and radio stations have morning programs in that they are always looking for guests to come on to their morning shows. It is important to ask well in advance and try to schedule a spokesperson’s appearance on one of the shows during the fundraising event.
Finally, businesses have marketing dollars. Often by submitting a proposal to a business you can tap into marketing dollars. This can be accomplished by asking the business to sponsor the event and provide appropriate advertising. This win-win situation allows for the company to advertise their name in the community as well as portray themselves as the sponsor of a good fundraising cause.

Fundraising Is Better With A Team
Fundraising is an admirable activity if the cause is noble, and usually many people will work to help with fundraising activities for a good cause. Fundraising can make a significant difference to people, places and activities that do not get public money. Working to collect extra funds also benefits those who do not get enough public money for optimum performance. Working to raise extra money can be very lucrative and beneficial if a team is assembled to participate in the activities. Usually an effective leader is very important to fundraising success so each group in need of funds should find a leader who will motivate others to participate in the fundraising activities.
A fundraising team should be assembled, trained and deployed to implement the activities for the projects. The leader should be in charge of the vision, plan and organization for the projects. The role of the leader for raising extra funds should be to organize the people, motivate the people and delegate authority. This authority might be dispersed widely in a large group but narrowly in a small group. A leader who marshals the resources of all of the members of a group should succeed. The leader should be effective at motivating the group to get started but more importantly, the leader should help to keep the group motivated to stay on task even if the fundraising projects do not get off on the right track.
Fundraising Can Help Many People
Most of the people who are fund raising have a good cause and usually their devotion to this good cause will motivate the people toward dedicated work. Some workers might get off task from time to time, and the leader should be around to get them back on track. Fundraising is usually easier if the group is involved to help themselves. The cheerleaders raising funds for a trip to the championships will have great motivation to provide for the activities.
Fundraising can mean a few extra dollars at a bake sale for some classroom art supplies or hundreds of dollars for team uniforms. The sky is the limit if the vision is expansive and the organization is superb. A feeling of teamwork for a good cause usually spurs a group to produce special events that will bring in extra funds. Many people are willing to volunteer for a good cause. People are usually willing to work for the cause, and many are also willing to contribute money to a good cause.
